# Mammut historical catalog

Mammut’s catalog structure is available for each year from 2020 through 2026. The seven dated snapshots preserve the complete category field or navigation list contained in their respective first-party sources. This establishes coverage of seven annual snapshots; it does not establish an exhaustive history of every seasonal assortment, every region, or every product Mammut has ever sold.

### Evidence interpretation

The 2020 snapshot contains visible-source navigation markup, including shopping and editorial branches. The 2021 and 2022 definitions organize product categories under separate Men and Women roots. From 2023 onward the selected definitions use a shared category tree. Therefore, the fall from 162 to 80 nodes is not evidence that Mammut halved its assortment. It primarily changes the representation and scope being counted. Category counts must never be treated as product counts.

Parent-child relationships follow explicit nested HTML lists or the source’s children arrays. The recovery does not infer hierarchy from URL prefixes, combine branches from different years, or fabricate missing links. For category definitions that supply IDs and slugs without an href, the downloadable records preserve those identifiers and leave the hyperlink empty. The archive link for the containing source remains available.

Each year represents one date, not an annual average or a summer/winter pair. The menu APIs have their own capture dates: the 2022 source is 1 February 2022, and the 2023 source is 4 January 2023. The actual replay timestamp is used; a requested date that redirects to a different snapshot is not silently retained as the evidence date.

### Observed changes relevant to apparel

In the 2021 and 2022 definitions, Jackets & Vests includes separate Hardshell Jackets, Down Jackets, Insulated Jackets and Rain Jackets branches. The January 2023 definition uses Waterproof Jackets while retaining separate Down Jackets and Insulated Jackets. In the December 2024 definition, Down & Insulated Jackets is one label, and Midlayers & Fleece Jackets is one label under Tops. These are observed taxonomy labels; they do not prove a change in construction, fabric sourcing or the underlying number of products.

The January 2026 definition includes Kids as a top-level entry in addition to Clothing, Footwear and Equipment. This records its presence in that snapshot, not the year Mammut first launched children’s products. Absence from an earlier selected source is insufficient to establish a launch or discontinuation.

## Product evidence coverage

The normalized archive contains 22,724 capture records covering 3,724 distinct article identifiers and 9,351 article/year combinations. The original US, UK, international and earlier EU English storefront records are supplemented with dated German-language Swiss, German and Austrian pages and French-language Swiss and French pages. Each record retains its locale; these are not translated into English or counted as new products. 3,426 article identifiers have a nonempty title field somewhere in the window. This includes one identifier whose available titles are only article-number placeholders; the count does not mean every product name is resolved. Store versions overlap and must not be summed as distinct products.

| Year | Captured pages | Observed article IDs | IDs with title field | Article/year gaps |
|---|---:|---:|---:|---:|
| 2020 | 3,291 | 1,190 | 1,190 | 0 |
| 2021 | 5,896 | 1,935 | 1,447 | 488 |
| 2022 | 3,178 | 1,040 | 1,040 | 0 |
| 2023 | 2,907 | 1,077 | 1,077 | 0 |
| 2024 | 2,946 | 1,244 | 1,244 | 0 |
| 2025 | 2,615 | 1,536 | 1,536 | 0 |
| 2026 | 1,891 | 1,329 | 1,329 | 0 |

The latest audit fetched 595 additional dated official-store captures and recovered 140 previously unresolved article/year combinations, reducing the gap from 628 to 488. Across both recovery passes, 692 alternate captures have been examined and 147 article/year gaps resolved from the original 635. All 488 remaining gaps are in 2021. Most unsuccessful alternatives are empty application shells. A successful HTTP response or a fulfilled fetch target is therefore not equivalent to a recovered product specification.

The product records retain original descriptions, materials, technologies, specifications, sizes, colorways and prices where those fields were present. Missing fields stay missing. Prices are observations from their particular currency and store; they are not converted into a common currency or backfilled from today. Color-independent article IDs define products; locale and color variants are not counted as new products. Existing representative images are reused across years and should not be interpreted as dated evidence of every historical colorway.

## Earlier printed catalogs: located, not recovered in full

Utah State University Libraries catalogs Mammut’s [Winter 2018/2019 edition](https://exhibits.usu.edu/items/show/23845) in its Outdoor Recreation Products Catalog Collection, Book Collection 72, M-23, 2018. It also records a [second winter catalog](https://exhibits.usu.edu/items/show/23846) and [Summer 2019](https://exhibits.usu.edu/items/show/23847), Book Collection 72, M-23, 2019. The public item descriptions identify front covers. These are concrete archival leads for obtaining the original seasonal books, but they do not establish complete downloadable product listings. No product facts from these cover records have been seeded into the official-store dataset.

GO OUT’s [brand catalog archive](https://web.goout.jp/catalog/) also lists “MAMMUT 150YEARS STORIES.” Its linked reader returned 404 during this research. The title alone does not establish that it contains a full seasonal assortment, so it is recorded as an unresolved lead rather than counted as a recovered catalog.

## Remaining limitations

No complete monthly sitemap ledger was present in the audited dataset. Consequently, an article’s first or last observed archive year is not a reliable launch or discontinuation date. A product absent from a year may simply not have been archived. The sampled category structures cannot certify complete product-level assortment coverage.

The researched and published window is 2020–2026. Earlier Mammut catalogs and printed seasonal workbooks are not included in this dataset. The available evidence does not support calling it Mammut’s complete all-time catalog. Further expansion requires dated official catalogs or additional archived first-party records, with their own coverage checks.

The product-year evidence index preserves the archive URL and storefront for each source-mapped captured version. Full normalized product records remain in the dedicated Mammut product-history dataset; the category-history download contains the seven recovered structures and their source metadata.
